Initial Fears
As stated in my previous blog I initially felt really pleased with how the meeting had gone at the Theatre and was now preparing myself for my first session.
As the time got closer I was becoming more and more apprehensive about the placement. So far we had agreed on:
- Tuesday Mornings 10-1, Home Ed
- Thursday Afternoons 4.30-6, Youth Theatre 13-15years
During the meeting the team had also suggested that I get in contact with a lady called Sue Moffat who is in charge of the Borderlines projects which run at the theatre. These projects work more with the 'hard to reach' groups in society, and as well as this Borderlines have undertaken work touring projects in schools, and have also been invited to Poland with their youth theatre to perform in a youth theatre festival. So I emailed Sue explaining who I was and how I had been given her email as a suggested contact for the type of experience I was hoping to gain at the theatre.
There were many things at this time which were affecting my confidence levels:
- How other staff apart from the Education team would react to me
- How other volunteers would react to me
- How the groups would react to me, how this would affect both myself and them
- How involved I would be expected to get
- How many sessions I would be allowed to attend, would there be a time limit on the amount of sessions they were comfortable with me attending?
Overall as the first session got nearer and nearer I was becoming increasingly more nervous and was hoping all my questions would soon be answered after my initial session.
